Driving directions
Directions from M60 anticlockwise: Exit the motorway at Junction 27 (Portwood Interchange, near to large Tesco store/Porsche dealership). Take the 4th exit from the roundabout onto B6104 Carrington Road. At the second set of traffic lights, continue left onto B6104 Stockport Road West. Turn left onto Welkin Road (opposite Pear Mill). Continue to the bottom of Welkin Road and turn right into the car park for Welkin Mill.
Directions from M60 clockwise: Exit the motorway at Junction 25 (Bredbury). Take the 2nd exit at the roundabout onto Ashton Road. Go past McDonald’s/Morrisons and turn right at the traffic lights onto Stockport Road West. Turn right onto Welkin Road (opposite Pear Mill). Continue to the bottom of Welkin Road and turn right into the car park for Welkin Mill.
Welkin Mill is an incredibly atmospheric venue, chosen for its industrial heritage. Due to the location, please take care while travelling down Welkin Road as there are some uneven surfaces.
Car Parking
Free parking is available outside Welkin Mill. If the car park is full, there are spaces available on Welkin Road.
Please be aware that the car park can get very busy at times, particularly Saturday mornings and Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday evenings. This is due to other activities within Welkin Mill. We suggest that you allow plenty of time to find a parking space.
If there is no parking available within Welkin Mill or on Welkin Road, then the nearest public car park is located approximately 10 minutes walk away at Vernon Park.
Taxis
Metro Taxis (0161 480 8000), Lynx Taxis (0161 483 1099) and Uber all cover Stockport. There are also many other local firms available which you can find with an online search.
Walking and Cycling
Please be aware that we are located a short distance outside of Stockport Town Centre. It takes around 30-40 minutes to walk from the town centre to Welkin Mill.
The majority of the walk is on well lit public footpaths, but Welkin Road is unadopted and does not have street lighting. We've never had any reports of safety issues in the 6+ years we've been here (our staff walk it daily!), but you may wish to consider a taxi from the town centre.
The cycling route from Stockport town centre is the same as the walking route and generally takes 10-15 minutes.
Bredbury train station is located in the opposite direction and is also approximately 30-40 minutes walk or 10-15 minutes cycle distance.
Unfortunately there is not currently designated cycle parking at Welkin Mill. This is something that we are working with our landlord to try and introduce. In the mean time, you are able to lock your bike onto the railings near the main gates of the mill. We regret that we cannot accept any responsibility for bikes left outside.
Railway
Stockport is very well connected, the railway station in the town centre is serviced by main line and local stopping trains.
Bredbury station is also serviced by trains between Manchester Piccadilly and New Mills Central.

Buses
A bus stop in both directions is located on Stockport Road West (B6104), close to the junction with Welkin Road.
The 330 bus travels between Stockport and Ashton-under-Lyne. The 382/384 local buses travel through Bredbury. For more information on bus routes, please see the TfGM website.
